CAMEL

Fig. 16 In ancient times, the camel was the only way to cross the desert. If the camel died during the journey, the Arab died also.  The camel shows no sign of being sick or exhausted.  If he is driven hard for a day, he must rest for a week.  The Arabs seldom name their camels because a camel forgets his master overnight.  

When a caravan leaves for a very rough desert crossing, the camels are eaten to make sure the riders survive, so extra camels are taken.  The camel is the ideal desert vehicle.  It can be ridden through the desert and graze on nearly nothing, yet it provides milk and meat to the owner.  Horses and Land Rovers are not nearly as inclusive in need meeting, and they are expensive to feed.
