Fig. 10 Ea, the Sumerian god of the waters, parallels Neptune of later times. He was one of the three primal gods of Sumer: Ea- god of water; Enlil- god of earth; and Anu- god of heaven. Each god had a wife or consort, and the wife of Enlil was Ninlil. The LIL root in his and her name came over 3500 years to survive in the names Allah and Allat, the god and goddess of Mecca in Muhammed's day.
