This is Ishtar and her baby god, Marduk. In 1500 BC, the residents of Babylon would celebrate the sun's staying up longer after the winter solstice. They would run to the temple of Ishtar, take the baby god, Marduk, and run through the streets shouting, "Rejoice, the goddess has given birth to a son." They would then light candles and give gifts to one another. Sound familiar? Do you think the Godhead would sanctify December 25th by allowing Christ's birth on that grossly pagan day? Not a chance friend.
