AL KORAN

 

Fig. 2 This is the first chapter of the Koran, or Sura 1.  It is known as the Fatiha, and it is said to equal one third of the message of the Koran. The Koran is read from left to right, and the vowels were provide, which is rare.  This is the first piece of real literature which the Arab world ever had, and, for this reason, it was a landmark.  It was pre-dated by a copy of the Gospel of John from the Bible translated by Waraqa, Muhammed's uncle.  Muhammed could not read it because he was illiterate.  He dictated the Koran while scribes wrote it, and from time to time, he edited and redacted it to fit the evolution of early Islam.  Version used here- A.
