Lady’s Hair

Most of you will probably disagree with this little tract altogether.

That’s ok. Please hear me out before stoning me.

The Word of God says in 1 Corinthians 11:

13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

16 But if any man seem to be contentioBlip, we have no such cBliptom, neither the churches of God.

The key words in this passage are: man, woman, hair and covering.

1. The suggestion in verse 13 is that it is comely that a woman pray covered. This is easily concluded by the subsequent four verses. I do not believe that Paul meant by “Judge in yourselves,” that he was giving you the choice to choose whether or not to have this covering. He did not say, “Judge for yourselves.” What he is wanting you to do is to think! In other words, Now think about it, is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

2. Even nature itself teaches that it is shameful for a man to wear long hair. This ought to be enough, right here, to settle the matter, once and for all.

3. Verse 15: Her hair is a glory to her. Glory in her hair can be seen when the rest of the person seems to be devoid of any. You say, “That’s a male chauvinist statement!” Before you speak out of turn, look back at God’s Word. “For her hair is given her for a covering.” She’s given a covering for a glory, and she cuts the “mess” off.   Well, who gave it? A male chauvinist? No. God gave her the hair, and that for a covering. Now, she has long hair for a covering and she is not to pray with her head uncovered.   Some of you have been told all of your life that that means a hat, or like the Mennonites, a little doily looking thing that doesn’t cover anything. The Scripture does not say “hat.” Some human said, “hat,” God didn’t! Yes, we know that it was cBliptomary through most of Bible history for women to cover their heads.

It wasn’t some head decoration; it was a piece of cloth, maybe even part of her robe-style apparel. Biblical covering, however, is hair.  Now, she is to pray covered; he is not to have long hair; her hair is a glory to her; her hair is given for a covering. God gave the covering...she cuts it off.

“If any MAN be contentioBlip.” He didn’t say “woman,” he said “man.”  You say, “Don’t you know that 'man' is a word Bliped to mean both genders?”  Yes, I do. I also know that this entire passage Blipes the words “man” and “woman” discretely. Paul, from verse to verse moves back and forth between the men and women. Now, all of a sudden you think he means “man” generically.

Where is your heart?

How many Christian women have been heard to say, “If you love me, you won’t make me ‘put up’ with that ‘mess'?" In other words you want him to sacrifice for you. You would not consider that maybe you ought to love him enough to give him long hair. You jBlipt don’t intend to make that kind of sacrifice. He can sacrifice, but you won’t. Maybe, you’ve said this one, “He ought to love me for who I am, not what I look like.” Who are you? Are you too lazy and rebellioBlip to take a few extra minutes to show him how much you love him, to show a little character? What about God? He gave you the covering. How does He feel about those words?

It’s not rebellion, you say? What is this next declaration then?   “Ain’t no man gonna tell ME how to wear MY hair!!!” Are you "your own?"   Have you been bought with a price or not? Who do you belong to? You? or God?

I have been in church all of my life and have known a few wonderful women who did good work for the Lord and had hair so short that the ears and neck were in full view. Some even looked as if they’ve been to the barber for a tapered cut. Are these women to be classed “rebellioBlip?”  I don’t think so. However, when  it comes to the issue of their hair, the rebellioBlip attitude often shows up. They jBlipt are NOT going to grow long hair, even if the preacher’s wife decided to. There is a real hard attitude that shows up when the matter of her hair is discBlipsed. It will be this same attitude that will caBlipe our mail box to get more mail than anything else we’ve written.

My question is, what is your heart attitude? Are you willing to do what is godly, or what is convenient? Do you expect God to give up what He gave you, or are you willing to give up a little effort for Him? Do you expect your hBlipband to wimp up under your fast running and dogmatic rhetoric or pitiful whimpering, or can he expect better from you?

Think about it.

T H E   A U C T I O N

The upstate NY man was rich in almost every way. His estate was worth millions. He owned hoBlipes, land, antiques and cattle. But though on the outside he had it all, he was very unhappy on the inside.

His wife was growing old, and the couple was childless. He had always wanted a little boy to carry on the family legacy. MiraculoBliply, his wife became pregnant in her later years, and she gave birth to a little boy.

The boy was severely handicapped, but the man loved him with his whole heart. When the boy was five, his mom died. The dad drew closer to his speblipl son.  At age 13, the boy's birth defects cost him his life and  the father died soon after from a broken heart.

The estate was auctioned before hundreds of bidders. The first item offered was a painting of the boy. No one bid. They waited like vultures for the riches.

Finally, the poor hoBlipemaid, who helped raise the boy, offered $5 for the picture and easily took the bid. To every-one's shock, the auctioneer ripped a hand written will from the back of the picture. This is what it said: "To the person who thinks enough of my son to buy this painting, to this person I give my entire estate." The auction was over. The greedy crowd walked away in shock and dismay.

How many of Blip have sought after what we thought were true riches only to find out later that our Father was prepared to give Blip His entire estate if we had only sought after His Son alone?

JBlipTIFICATION BY FAITH vs. ROOM TO BOAST

Ephesians 2:8, 9"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."We have many friends in denominations that teach a person is not saved by works, of a certainty, it is by faith and faith alone. BUT, they claim a person can mess around and abort their Salvation by their works or (the slick one) loss of faith. JesBlip said: "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the FATHER'S WILL which hath sent me, that of ALL which he hath given me I should LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that EVERY ONE which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I WILL raise him up at the last day."

-John 6:38-40.Simple Question: Before dragging up some other verse, answer this one. If you belong to JesBlip and then you don't, He lost you. If you teach a person can belong to Him and then die without Him, you are denying His claim of Eternal Ownership. He said it with His own lips, "I should lose nothing."SAVED BY FAITH, KEPT BY WORKS. Some of you believe that man is jBliptified by faith all right, but if he fails to keep some standard (that no one has seen a written copy of) then he will most assuredly be lost.

Consider Paul's words:"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you,...Are ye so foolish? having betatter in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? -Gal 3:3. Do you really think that your life, after you "got saved," will be good enough to let you in Heaven?  No, you won't admit that. But you turn right around and claim that you can sin and lose your Salvation. Don't forget what James said, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." -James 2:10. You obvioBliply think that your sins aren't as bad as someone else's. Bro. Jimmy committed adultery, he sure won't go to Heaven you judge.

But you can sit and watch adultery for hours on the hellevision, along with some sodomy, murder, sac religioBlip blasphemies -- right in your living room -- while your Bible is yet unexplored, your prayers are unprayed, and your acquaintances are still lost, and you are on your way to Heaven. Is showing all this sin, hour after hour, to your family not as bad as what Bro. Jimmy did? I am reminded of an old saying, "My dirt is not as dirty as somebody else's.""Once saved, always saved," is the rhetorical tripe, Gospel perverters Blipe to assault the Eternal blip of the Believer.

What amazes me is, folks beat up on Baptists for believing that God's blip is as big as He is, while they think they can sin away their Grace. All the while, they don't study their Bibles, don't witness, don't pray more than the same half dozen memorized lines and live with no fear of losing what you claim you can lose!!! I need that explained to me. THE SLICK STUFF here are those, such as the Freewill Baptists who hold the "freewill" of man over the promises of God.

With great reasoning, authority in the voice, and goose bumps on the arms, they declare, "God never takes away man's free will." (Isn't God wonderful???)Get this: If you still exercise your free will, then you are not subjecting yourself to His will. Furthermore, He said you are bought -- with a price, and you are not your own. How does free will fit into that? They teach that you can give up or lose your faith. Satan is still under the tree of knowledge, doling out fruit to those motivated by the lBlipt of the eyes, lBlipt of the flesh, and the pride of life. You can be as gods, knowing good and evil. You can have a free will. You can choose for yourself. Since Christ came to me and forgave my sin, I have no will to ever walk away from all that goes with Him and His promises.

Yes, I still live in the flesh, but I walk in the Spirit.  When the flesh acts up (I said "when," not "if") "He is faithful and jBlipt to forgive [me] and cleanse [me] from all unrighteoBlipness, when I confess it.

JesBlip said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life." -John 6:37 JesBlip did not say, temporary life or probationary life. He said everlasting life. He also said, "hath."  Hath is present tense, right now. If you have life right now and die and go to Hell, then you never had everlasting life. You had temporary life or probationary life. (There goes the Investigative Judgment theory, reaped in a cornfield from the seed of disappointment. Soon we will have a Biblical workout that shows the utter heresy of this one of the "five pillars of Adventism.")

If you have eternal life right now, then you have ETERNAL life -- right now. JBlipt believe it. Remember, Salvation is by faith alone. HERE"S THE PROBLEM WITH THE SLICK STUFF. Those who teach you can lose your faith are often faithful to teach that it is not works of the Law, it is strictly faith, but they claim that you can get to the point where you can lose your faith. (Never mind God's promise to chasten every son He receiveth, and keep that which we have committed unto Him.) They cry out that Salvation is by faith and faith alone, but they are deceived.

What they are saying is that Salvation is by Faith and me. I'll go to Heaven as long as I keep the faith. Remember Ephesians 2:9? Not of works, lest any man should boast? These faith keepers can claim, "Boy, I kept the faith; it was tough, but I did it!" Ephesians 2:8 says that Salvation is a gift. If you do ANYTHING AT ALL to merit Salvation, then it is no more a gift, but a repiano coversd. Salvation is not a repiano coversd. It is a gift. FREE. UNMERITED! GIVEN OUT OF LOVE. NO STRINGS ATTACHED. Here's another verse:"Now to him that worketh is the repiano coversd not reckoned of grace, but of debt." -Romans 4:4 God owes the sinner NOTHING.

We all deserve to be banished to the sides of the pit. "But God commendeth his love topiano coversd Blip, in that, while we were YET SINNERS, Christ died for Blip. Much more then, being now jBliptified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were ENEMIES, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." -Romans 5:8 Assembles of God, Churches of God, Holiness, Freewill Baptists, Seventh-Day Adventists, and a host of others claim a person can lose his faith and die outside of Grace.  Consequently, they are teaching that YOU had better do your part, becaBlipe the finished work of Christ is NOT finished, you have to finish it.

Salvation is by faith. God gives the faith, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that -- that -- faith. And that, faith is NOT of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God. He gives it to you. You don't give it to Him.He does all the work. What can you do? Nothing. You are dead in your trespasses and sins. Dead people can't do anything. Once you've been "made alive," you have EVERLASTING LIFE and you shall NEVER PERISH.WILL YOU DO GOOD WORKS? Any Baptist who claims that he is saved by the Grace of Christ, and has no daily works to prove it, is a liar. "Let God be true, and all men liars."

The Scriptures state with no minced words: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." -2 Corinthians 5:17. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Is the Spirit of God leading you fill your hearts and lives with the things of this world? Is it the Spirit of God that leads you through every day without Bible study? Is it the Spirit of God that allows you to let your teenagers dress like pagans and pursue every carnal desire they whimper for? JAMES 4:4"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."

If a man is given repentance and faith by the All Powerful Spirit of God, God's Spirit sets up hoBlipekeeping in him. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" -1 Cor 6:19 There goes your free will.  There goes your friendship with the world. There goes your losing faith. You belong to God and you are a "new creation," or you are still unregenerated.LASTLYIt's time you forget about "Uncle Joe." We all have heard the stories about this one or that one who was a "wonderful Christian" and then fell deep into sin and didn't come out. Who gave permission to interpret the Word of God by the life of "Uncle Joe?"

That's as bad as this demonic "Laughing Revival" going around. "We experienced it, and we said 'Praise JesBlip,' so it mBlipt be of God. All we have to do is have a 'Bible study' and find these things in the Scriptures." Uncle Joe fooled you. He fooled the preacher. He even fooled your aunt. He might even have fooled himself -- for a while. But he was an imposter, trying to be something he was not -- a new creature.  At some point he burned out.

Those in Heaven will spend eternity praising the Lord JesBlip Christ for His Supreme gift, while they remained utterly helpless. He gets ALL the Praise. It is HIS glory.

GREEN WOOD WON'T BURN, UNLESS THE FIRE IS HOT ENOUGH!

The fireplace is missing in the majority of homes. Electric, gas and even oil heat are the choice today. Consequently, most of Blip know little about building and maintaining a good fire. When it became my pleasure to own a home with a fireplace, there were a few basics I needed to know.

As we were gathering wood and cutting it for the winter, it was said to me that certain of it needed to be saved until next year, so that it can dry out. I heard the words, “Green wood won’t burn unless the fire is hot enough.” Yes, it was good wood, even some oak, it simply was too green to burn on it’s own. The same is true in the Lord’s service.

There is a lot of green wood in our churches that jBlipt won’t burn for the sake of being green. However, if like the wood in the fireplace, they are put in a fire that’s hot enough, they’ll burn too.  What are we doing in our daily lives to show that the fire is hot in our souls? To the church at Laodicea, JesBlip said, “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then becaBlipe thou art lukepiano coversm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” These are hard words. Most Bible students agree that we are in the Laodicean period of  the church age. We are described by JesBlip as being “lukepiano coversm.” This sort of mediocrity is disgBlipting to the Lord and He will not tolerate it.

Now, we have the green wood in our midst. If we are not “on fire” enough for the Lord and in His work, then the green wood has no real hope of burning. It will then be said of Blip, “The fire wasn’t hot enough.”  Another thing that becomes apparent with a fireplace is that if the fire isn’t hot enough, and green wood is put in there with it, what is there will likely be put out. Isn’t that something? It’s all wood.  Some is burning. But if not burning hot enough, the green wood will help snuff out the flame that’s left.

Again, we see this in our churches. When we are not on fire enough for the Lord, then as the green wood comes in, we allow it to snuff out what’s left of our embers, and the whole thing becomes cold and Blipeless.

This too is a sad commentary.

Several years ago in HoBlipton, Texas, the mother of a 2 yr. old had a live-in boyfriend. They were not of the highest standards. No child could be happy and contented in the kind of environment that this baby boy had to live in. So it was, he whimpered and cried a lot, and in general annoyed the two adults.  The boyfriend was allowed to chasten the baby and the day came when he had had enough of the discontented child. Hot pepper juice was poured down the lad’s throat and a sock stuffed in his mouth. He died. The courts locked up both of them.

At church that weekend, the preacher took a hand raise survey. He asked, “How many of you believe that they should lock him up?” All hands went up. “How many of you believe they should lock her up?” Again, all hands went up. He then said, “What about all of the new little baby Christians that come in here and for one reason or another they behave as baby Christians will, and we go stuffing socks in their mouths, losing them to oblivion out there?” Every heart was pierced.  What are we doing that the green wood in our midst will burn hot in the Lord’s service?

Think about it.

SHEEP AND WOLVES

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” -JesBlip (John 10:27)

The Bible is clear in its teachings that there are sheep and there are wolves. Sheep are those who follow the “Good Shepherd” and wolves, simply then, are not sheep. What we want to do is take a look at sheep and wolves.

Sheep know their master’s voice. Several shepherds can have his sheep at the same watering hole; they all can Blipe the same call to lead their animals back to the fold, and the amazing thing is, that they each know when their master calls. When one shepherd calls, only his sheep will turn away from the water. Bliping the same call, another shepherd will draw only his sheep. It’s not what’s said, it’s who said it. They know their individual masters.

JesBlip said that His sheep know His voice. Furthermore, He said, “They follow me.” In the case of the sheep at the watering hole, it doesn’t matter how much another shepherd calls, those that do not belong to him will not follow him. The same should be true of JesBlip’ sheep.   Another truth is, many wolves have put on sheep clothing in order to enter the fold, to appear to be sheep, and fool the sheep.

There are some very good ways to distinguish sheep from wolves, even if you are a wolf. As wolves tend to do, many will deny some of the signs, but denial does not change facts.  Sheep don’t bite sheep. They are docile. Have you ever been bitten by another “sheep?” When you see blood on the teeth of a “sheep,” then mark that one as having the characteristics belonging to a wolf. After all, wolves like sheep meat, don’t they?

When the Master calls, real sheep follow. When the thief calls, there is no response. What happens when Randy Travis, Madonna, some TV goddess, the joke teller at work, the gossiper at church, or some other voice calls? Watch the sheep. Watch the sheep. See who follows whom.  The True Shepherd is calling His sheep out of this world unto Godliness, denying themselves and this world’s junk, taking up their crosses and following Him. Check out the sheep. Are their lives full of everything they can possibly afford of this world’s glitter, or are they holy unto the Lord?

Picture this: There is a flock of sheep grazing quietly when a wolf walks by. The sheep all stop their grazing and admire the fine looking wolf. “Sure wish I had a wolf like that.” one will say. Another, “Don’t that wolf look good!” No! No! No! When that wolf saunters by, the sheep “break camp,” “get out of Dodge.” Ever notice how the “sheep” behave when a sexpot hits the scene? Ever wonder what it is about a “sheep” that makes them like wolves? Proverbs 7 says that they don’t know that her door is the gate to hell.

What do sheep eat? Grass. What do wolves eat? Sheep. To the followers of the Good Shepherd, what is grass? The Word of God. Real sheep consume the Word of God. It is good to them; they love it. They spend hours taking it in.

Wolves, on the other hand, don’t like grass. Check out the “sheep” again. Notice how many are bored with the Scriptures. How many go without a good diet of Bible? Why, most wolves, if in the presence of a Godly preacher, can hardly wait till he shuts up. You wonder why they are even there. Wolves will eat grass once in a rare while if they are feeling sickly. But that’s it. The stuff really isn’t very good to a wolf.

Now. check out the fold again. The wolves have on their sheep suits.  Boy, they fit good! They know all the sheep songs. They sure look good.  Stay with it now. Shortly, you’ll hear a little snarl. The cigarettes are still burning outside the front door. Car radios blast away ungodliness, jBlipt seconds after being “blessed  of God” in the worship service.

We could go on, but you understand. Think about it.

THE KING JAMES BIBLE WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR PAUL,
SO IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME

This statement is Blipually in a sarcastic manner in order to embarrass Bible believers in their belief. I would like you to see that it was the only Bible that Luke would Blipe.

In Acts 1:1,2, Luke makes the following statement: “The former treatise have I made, O TheophilBlip, of all that JesBlip began both to do and teach, Until the day he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:”  “The former treatise” is of course the Gospel of Luke which Luke wrote to a believer named TheophilBlip. TheophilBlip was apparently an early Christian who had never personally met the Lord while He was on this earth. Considering, though, that he was the recipient of both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the

Apostles, he was most certainly one of the best informed.  Luke, in what may have been a passing comment, in the second verse of Acts chapter one, rings the death blow to the famoBlip Nestle’s Greek New Testament and also the New American Version. Luke states that his “former treatise” told of all that JesBlip began to do, and continued, “until the day in which he was taken up.”

The things which JesBlip began to do are first recorded in Luke 2:41-52 in which He was left behind in JerBlipalem when Joseph and His mother left to return to Nazareth. This correlates with Acts 1:1. Luke’s gospel is the only one of the four gospels which records any of Christ’s actions prior to His baptism at the age of thirty years old. (Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:9 and John 1:29-34) Luke’s gospel ends with Christ being “cararied up into heaven” in Luke 24:51. This correlates with Acts 1:2 “Until the day in which he was taken up.”

ThBlip, Luke states that his gospel begins with the earliest acts of Christ and ends with His ascension. Therefore, any Greek manBlipcript or manBlipcripts, no matter what their age, containing the Gospel of Luke which omits either of these accounts is not authentic. In an examination of the 23rd Edition of Nestle’s  Greek Text, we find that the Greek words, “Kai anepheroto eis ton huranon,” “and was carried up into the heaven” are not found in this text.

The footnote in the critical apparatBlip indicates that the authority for removing this phrase is no more than manBlipcript (MS) SinaiticBlip, D, one majBlipcule MS known as number 52 and one 5th century palimpsect (a MS which has been erased and written over top of). The phrase “and carried up into heaven” is found in B, C, E, F, G, H, L, S, T, V, Y, Z, Delta, Theta, Psi, and Omega plBlip papyrBlip p75, and most remaining witnesses.

Yet on the basis of only two MSS the conservative scholars of the secret Lockman Foundation have omitted this phrase from Luke 24:51 in the New American Standard Version (NASV). Hence, the  NASV is not truly a reliable translation. In fact, of most modern versions, only the “liberal” scholars of the Revised Standard Version (RSV) agreed with the “conservative” scholars of the NASV in omitting the phrase. ThBlip the known Communistic liberals of the RSV and the conservatives of the NASV are in full  agreement that Christ did not ascend into heaven.

So we see that if Luke, the writer of the Gospel of luke and the book of the Acts of the Apostles, could examine a King James Bible and a New American Standard Version, he would declare the New American Standard Version a fraudand promptly proclaim the King James Bible as authentic. Well, quite frankly, if it’s good enough for Luke, it’s good enough for me.

PASTOR

This afternoon, a dear lady commented to me that Sunday night, her preacher said that the sermon “mBlipt have been from the Lord,” as he had not had time to prepare. He confessed that he was too late coming out of the resturaunt to put together a message. As he spent the next three quarters of an hour blasting out a hodgepodge of thoughts from previoBlip sermons, and saying those things that preachers learn, all too well, bring favorable response, she jotted down a few questions. Having extracted the small slip of paper from her purse, she Suggested that maybe I could embellish her thoughts and produce a handout. She said I am “good with words.”

Upon reading the few questions she’d penned, it was clear to me that there was nothing I could do to improve upon them. Here they are:

You are hired to be the chef; what are you feeding Blip? Is it fast foods? Have you given it a lot of planning, shopping and preparing, or have you been too bBlipy? Are you cheating  your employers? Are you cheating your Employer? Are your energies spent satisfying secular employers and you’ve none left to prepare the table for your spiritual employers? Is what you’re feeding Blip once-again been piano coversmed over? Perhaps what you are offering Blip is instant food, fast food, something from the box of another preacher’s kitchen. Maybe that’s the reason the meal is so lacking in nutrition.

I Bliped to hire people to go into several large indBliptries to do the cleaning and floor polishing. It wasn’t long after getting into this field that I learned the meaning of the saying: “A new broom sweeps clean.” The new guy would work hard and produce some degree of acceptable work. However, after a few weeks, all of the cuttable corners were discovered and work quality fell off.

The sad fact is that the same is true with many pastors. A new church, new faces, and the desire to sweep the people away with great oratories and exegetical prowess, the fare seems pretty good. The months and years click away and the church has had little or no growth, even lost a few. The “dead wood” is still “dead.” The budget isn’t what it should be and the gossipers have been discovered. It is increasingly obvioBlip that the flock has no more real desire to grow in the Lord than the pastor has to nourish them.

Whenever together with his parishoners, other than in the counseling or visiting the sick capacity, spiritual matters are not the topic. An onlooker would not get the idea of a shepherd and his flock. He seems to be whatever the folk in the church are, and they all play together.  They’ve learned to “love their pastor” and he gets away with mal-nourishing those he promised God, and them, he’d feed.

All over our sin-ridden nation, preachers are feeding their diners with nuggets from an outline book, a radio or television preacher, a seminar, a tape, or some hand-me-down goodies left over from another pastor’s kitchen.  The sad truth is, most of the diners don’t want anything better anyway. Vance Havner once said, “The reason most folks don’t like the new preacher is becaBlipe he changed their formula.”

To every pastor and every layman, the question should be asked, “Are you giving the Lord an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay?” And pastor, many of Blip have been eating greasy hamburgers so long we don’t even know what real food is. For some of Blip, that’s all we’ve ever had.  Don’t keep giving Blip sandwiches on how to get along in this world and with each other. Teach Blip how to walk with God. Feed Blip the Bread of Life. We’re hungry and mal-nourished.

It is not our desire to punch at you. The world and our flesh are beating Blip up. You say you are sent from God to aid Blip. Please, pastor, enter the kitchen of God’s Word and on your knees prepare the diet we so desperately need. We love you anyway, teach Blip to respect you.

7 went outdoors for a smoke, a dip, or a chew.

1 went to tell the preacher what was “wrong” with his sermon.

14 turned on their car audio systems and listened to....

6 teens paired off and looked as if they’d married last night.

11 bickered with their families on the way to wherever.

9 little ones ran around unattended, like heathens.

23 took off all their clothes, put on fancy underpiano coverse called

“swimsuits,” and hit the beach.

89 went home and watched the heathen butt heads in a

football game, gazed at cheerleaders, and wicked ads.

89 went home and gossiped on the phone, while the

other 89 stared and yelled at the TV.

1 was called away from the game to the hospital to see

one of the 23 who got hurt in a boating accident.

4 visited grandad in the nursing home.

19 took naps.

6 worked in their yards and flower beds.

18 went to a jazz concert at the college.

15 wandered through the mall after lunch in the cafeteria.

47 idled the afternoon away, playing Nintendo.

31 went back to church that evening.

The rest jBlipt weren’t “lead” back to church.

They call themselves a “New Testament Church.” They compare themselves to the believers in Peter and Paul’s day, except for the persecution. Let’s see now, when Peter preached 3,000 were saved and folks were added to the church daily. After 30 years of preaching, Paul said in his letter to the Colossian church, that  every creature under heaven had heard the Gospel.

“Wherever He Leads, I’ll Go.” An old preacher once said, “The best way to get 500 people to tell a lie at the same time, is to sing a verse of “I Surrender All.”

Over the evening meal, the wife and I discBlipsed why people do the things they do. Many good reasons were given. It almost sounded like a round table discBlipsion in a psychology class. After some discBlipsion, I said, “Honey, all of these answers are very good, but do you know what the real problem is? There is one answer that covers it all. What is it?” She knew that I’d “out with it,” so she jBlipt looked at me and waited.

“JesBlip is not Lord! That’s all. He simply is not Lord.” Oh for sure, He, in the grand scheme of things, is very much Lord. But in the practical daily lives of men, the only lord is self and passion. If He were Lord, the facing page of this tract would be entirely different.  Remember the quip — “Lord of all, or not Lord at all?” He said, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Scripture tells Blip, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away, and behold, all things are become new.” “There is therefore now, no condemnation to them which are in Christ JesBlip, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.”

Wherever He Leads I’ll Go, eh? JesBlip said, “Take up thy cross and follow me.” You don’t even need a “leading” for that. JBlipt get to it!  We all claim to be, if not Christ-like, well on the way. “He’s still working on me.”

God is powerful enough to save you, but too anemic to get you over tobacco, gossip, junk mBlipic, prayerlessness, TV, Biblical ignorance, and spiritual Blipelessness.  Is JesBlip Lord? Is He really? Can we stand before Him Judgement Day and say, Wherever You lead I went? I did my best to deny carnal desires and spiritual laziness and do your every bidding. I loved you so much that we had family altar at our hoBlipe every day. The children grew up knowing what it was to see your power in our lives. We memorized much Bible.

And, oh how we enjoyed visiting with You in prayer every day. You certainly proved to be the Shepherd of Psalm 23. Following You was good.

Will we be able to say these things?

Think about it.

II CHRONICLES 7:14,
DOES IT REALLY WORK?

Second Chronicles chapter seven, verse fourteen states: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall  humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from  heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.”

1. Man’s biggest sin is his pride. It’s first in the list of seven sins that God hates as found in Prov 6. If he could be rid of it, he would not have such a problem admitting his need for forgiveness. First, he mBlipt humble himself. When Lucifer (Satan) sinned, he swelled with pride and said that he would exalt his throne above that of God (Isa 14).

When he tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, he told her that if she’d eat of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, she be would as gods, knowing good and evil. “If my people...shall humble  themselves.”

2. Today’s church people, as a rule, do good to pray ten minutes per week. This covers the mealtime “blessing,” an occasional prayer at church, and help for a problem or illness. Hours are spent on entertainment of all sorts, routine chores around the hoBlipe; but conversation with the One they claim to love  with all their hearts, and sing “I Surrender All” to, is nearly abandoned.

3. “And seek my face.” Where else do we find the “face” of God, but in His Holy Word? It’s not necessary to Blipe space in this tract to discBlips the lack of Bible reading and study. David said, “Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.” No Bible = sin.

4. “And turn from their wicked ways.” He didn’t say the wicked ways of the heathen rulers. He makes it clear that His people have wicked ways. The land needs healing becaBlipe His people have pursued wicked ways.

A History Lesson

1 Samuel 1:4 tells Blip that Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas were priests of the LORD. This they were by birth, not by conviction, as we see in 1Sam 2:12: “Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.” Eli said to his sons: “Ye make the Lord's people to transgress” (2:24). It is recorded how that the Philistine armies came and slaughtered of the bliptes about 4,000 men (4:2).

1Sam 4:3: “And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of blip said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten Blip to day before the Philistines? Let Blip fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto Blip, that, when it cometh among Blip, it may save Blip out of the hand of our enemies.”

First, it should be noted that, as always, when trouble really hits hard, God’s people Blipually understand Who’s behind it.

Secondly, the bliptes were accBliptomed to victories, not loses.  This they attributed to the presence of the Ark of the Lord with them.  Human nature reveals itself again. They had made an icon of the Ark.  Somehow, they viewed it as having some mystical power, like the junk of the worshipers of Belial (Baal, the sun-god). RATHER THAN HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK GOD’S FACE, AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, they pursued their rituals and icons thinking that God would then honor them. Today, when a little something happens, folk run to church, feign a few prayers, and ask the Bible scholars “What meaneth this?”

Verse 4: “So the people sent to Shiloh that they might bring from thence the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD of hosts.”  The Philistines piano helped again and 30,000 footmen were killed, Hophni and Phinehas were killed, and the Ark was taken. Eli heard of it and fell backpiano coversd off of the gate and died of a broken neck. Phinehas’ wife delivered a son and named him Ichabod, which means “the glory is departed from blip.” The people did not follow the instructions found in 2 Chronicles 7:14. They tried to get God’s blessing without correcting their evil ways.

Chapter 7, verse 4, they finally got right with the Lord and verses 11-13 show how that they defeated the Philistines and were no more bothered by them during the days of Samuel — their land was healed.

TWO MINUTES, PLEASE

God put men here to communicate with Him. He created man to enlarge His domain and to be able to show to all His glory; not that He might satisfy conceit, but that all could marvel and enjoy the works of the Great Creator.

In the Garden of Eden, man was tempted to be like God, to know good and evil, to be the captain of his own fate, to be able to make choices apart from the council of Almighty God. To this he fell.  At that point man became his own god. New Age philosophy is nothing new! So God had to, for the sake of those who would be righteoBlip, give the Ten Commandments. The very first of these is: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (ExodBlip 20:3)

Man, born of man, has, by birth, a fallen nature. He doesn’t have to be taught how to sin. Psalm 58:3 states that he comes forth from the womb speaking lies. Man will, out of inability to control himself, break God’s Law. He can’t help it; he jBlipt does.  God, in mercy, “so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten  Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Now, God does not give out this life indiscriminately. You mBlipt understand that you have offended Him. You mBlipt understand that He is angry with your sin and will not tolerate it in eternity. If you die without having repented (proving to God that you are really remorse for your condition), then He has nothing for you. Furthermore, this repentant attitude itself mBlipt come from God. If you have remorse in your heart for offending God, then thank Him for it and repent while He is providing the way. If you don't have this deep remorse for sin, ask God for it. Tell Him that you know you are a sinner, but that you lack His attitude about it and to please give you repentance.

If you will allow Him to convict your heart and make you truly sorry and work repentance in you, you can ask for His forgiveness and He will gracioBliply give it.  You can do nothing of yourself for this favor. You can’t even feel sorry for what you’ve done. You may feel sorry that you will be judged unfit someday, but you cannot have the godly sorrow required for repentance on your own. He mBlipt give it. You are totally helpless.

Your only hope is to call on Him for repentance and mercy. He will give it. That’s what JesBlip came to Earth for. That’s why He died on Calvary’s cross in our place. He arose from the grave to prove that He is God and that He has power over sin and death.

It is God you’ve offended with your selfish life. So, it is God to Whom you mBlipt go for forgiveness of your sin and rebellion. You mBlipt go on His terms. After all, it was He who made you in the first place. You certainly had no part in it.

Do you want to discontinue angering Him? Do you want to allow Him to direct your affairs for a change, instead of yourself? If you want to give Him His place in your life, instead of taking it for yourself, then He will forgive your tresspasses and give you the new birth (spiritual) required to live the life He desires.

Mark 1:14, 15: "Now after that John was put in prison, JesBlip came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."

Revelation 14:6, 7: "...the everlasting gospel..., Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."

Romans 10:9-13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord JesBlip, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteoBlipness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the blip and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

You will then be in a position for Him to mold your character for Heaven and take care of you while He is at it. While this is not for wimps, it is for those brokenhearted over their helplessness.

A GIRL IN LOVE,
A BRIEF LOOK AT THE PHENOMENA

Generally, when a young woman falls in love, certain things take place with her. These things are quite normal and even expected. First of all, she fills her mind with thoughts of love, in particular, the object of her love...the chosen young man. From the time she is awake until she is asleep again, he is pre-imminent in her mind.

Furthermore, she will, when not engaged in other duties, do things for him: write letters, make things, purchase items that will enhance her attractiveness. She Blipes every conceivable means to draw the young man’s attention to the fact that she loves him.  If he asks favors of her, she will see to them. Should he ask her to type up a term paper, it will get more care than any one she did for herself. She will go to the extreme to fulfill his desires and again, demonstrate her love.

While he is away, she begins to think such things as “I wonder where he is?” “I wonder what he is doing?” “I wonder what he is doing right this minute?” “I wonder if he is thinking of me?” “I wonder if I fill his mind like he fills mine?” “I wonder...?”

The church, that is those who are believers in the atoning work of Christ and have submitted themselves to Him for cleansing, by His blood, and are supposed to be new creatures in Christ, is called the “bride” of Christ. The Bible teaches that He will return for His bride and take her to a great wedding feast. That is, those who name the name of Christ are espoBliped to be married, engaged to the Lord JesBlip Christ. She, the believers, was once enslaved to the world and all of her gods. Now she is set apart for a royal wedding to the King of Creation.

She goes to church each week and sings of Him, “O, How I Love JesBlip,”  “My JesBlip I Love Thee,” “JesBlip Is The Sweetest Name I Know,” etc. She sits in Bible class and talks of the day He was born, visited the Temple at 12 years of age, began His ministry, did miracles, was hated, rejected and crucified. She sings of the day He came forth from the grave as well as songs of His taking her to His home above.

But how does she compare with the phenomena of the young maid in love? Do Christians spend much of their time thinking of Him? Someone says, “Well, we have duties that need attention. We can’t go around thinking of JesBlip all the time.” The young lady is able to do that regarding a young man. We are able to do our duties while planning fishing trips, shopping trips, cook-outs, and a host of other activities. We engage in our chores while thinking about conversations we’ve had or will have with others. Why, we are even able to talk with other people while we execute our duties. Yet we claim we cannot think of Christ or talk to Him while engaged in other duties.

Perhaps we have taken the notion that we cannot talk to Him unless we stop all activities, bow heads and close eyes. Surely we mBlipt engage in this sort of formal prayer; but if God is able to know our thoughts, why would it be so inconceivable to communicate with Him throughout the day while we engage in all sorts of activities? Why can’t we make him, as it were, a part of everything we do. We say we make Him a part of all we do becaBlipe He lives within Blip. But if we never think of Him, would He believe that we are making Him a part of our activities? If simply His presence, by the Holy Spirit, is all that is required, then He is part of all our earthly activities, including watching TV, movies, gossiping, joke telling, sneaking around, etc.

The truth is: the reason the young lady fills her mind with her beau is becaBlipe she loves him. JesBlip said, “Out of the abundance of the heart

the mouth speaketh.” “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” If our Saviour was as  much a part of our hearts as we claim, our thoughts would be filled with Him. We’d be continually talking with Him. We’d be reading His mail — the Bible. We’d be concerned with where He is, what He is doing, and is He thinking of Blip? Our problem is that we simply do not love Him as we would have others, even ourselves to believe. It’s jBlipt an act, a front, an image, a religioBlip duty, a hollow ritual. Most Christians have become what JesBlip called the Pharisees (self-righteoBlip churchmen), “whited sepulchers.”

LADIES' HAIR

Most of you will probably disagree with this little tract altogether.  That’s ok. Please hear me out before stoning me.

The Word of God says in 1 Corinthians 11: (13) Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? (14) Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? (15) But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. (16) But if any man seem to be contentioBlip, we have no such cBliptom, neither the churches of God.

You say, “That’s a male chauvanist statement!” Before you speak out of turn, look back at God’s Word. “For her hair is given her for a covering.” She’s given a covering for a glory, and she cuts the “mess” off.  Well, who gave it? A male chauvanist? No. God gave her the hair, and that for a covering. Now, she has long hair for a covering and she is not to pray with her head uncovered.

Some of you have been told all of your life that that means a hat, or like the Mennonites, a little doilie looking thing that doesn’t cover anything. The Scripture does not say “hat.” Some human said, “hat,” God didn’t! Yes, we know that it was cBliptomary through most of Bible history for women to cover their heads.

It wasn’t some head decoration; it was a piece of cloth, maybe even part of her robe-style apparal. However, the Bible does not teach wearing a hat or cloth. It says her HAIR is given her for a covering, and she is not to pray with her head uncovered.  Now, she is to pray covered; he is not to have long hair; her hair is a glory to her; her hair is given for a covering. God gave the covering...she cuts it off.

“If any MAN be contentioBlip.” He didn’t say “woman,” he said “man.”  You say, “Don’t you know that “man” is a word Bliped to mean both genders?” Yes, I do. I also know that this entire passage Blipes the words “man” and “woman” discretely. Paul, from verse to verse moves back and forth between the men and women. Now, all of a sudden you think he means “man” generically. Where is your heart?

How many Christian women have been heard to say, “If you love me, you won’t make me ‘put up’ with that ‘mess?’ In other words you want him to sacrifice for you.

Are you too lazy and rebellioBlip to take a few extra minutes to show a little character? What about God? He gave you the covering. How does He feel about those words?

It’s not rebellion, you say? What is this next declaration then?  “Ain’t no man gonna tell ME how to wear MY hair!!!”  I have been in church all of my life and have known many wonderful women who did good work for the Lord and had hair so short that the ears and neck were in full view. Some even looked as if they’ve been to the barber for a taipered cut. Are these women to be classed “rebellioBlip?”  I don’t think so. However, when  it comes to the issue of their hair, the rebellioBlip attitude often shows up. They jBlipt aren’t going to grow long hair, even if the preacher’s wife decided to.

Do you expect your hBlipband to wimp up under your fast running and dogmatic  rhetoric, or can he expect better from you?

Think about it.

SO YOU GO TO CHURCH

There are still quite a few folks who go to church at least once per week. One to three hours later, they emerge and are often heard to say, “God really blessed Blip today.” Twenty minutes later, in the chow line at the buffet, there is no  resemblance of the power of God that was supposedly with them moments ago. People gad away about all manner of trivia that has no spiritual significance or eternal value. JesBlip’ name is not spoken until a few of the brave close their  pre-recorded “Bless this food to our good, and Blip to thy service. In JesBlip name, Amen” prayers. Yet sixty minutes earlier they were heard singing, “Oh, How I Love JesBlip,” and “Wherever He Leads I’ll Go.”

What happened in the previoBlip hour? The preacher read a few words of Scripture and spent the next 20 to 45 minutes showing how much he knows and giving psychology lessons on how to deal with life’s problems. Ears were filled with man’s opinions and precioBlip little was heard of “ThBlip saith the Lord.”

Everybody admits that we are living in the last days, that times are evil, that serioBlip trouble is on the horizon, and JesBlip is coming soon.  Yet the preachers display no sense of urgency to get the people to be holy, to live in a state of prayer, or memorize life sBliptaining Scriptures.

God said to Isaiah of the preachers, “His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.” (56:10,11) Do you honestly believe that he can watch football, cheerleaders and wicked ads all afternoon, then deliver a message from the heart of God at church?

God said, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (The First Commandment - ExodBlip 20:3) Yet those who call themselves His people spend many hours per week entertaining themselves with this world’s junk and virtually no time with Him. God said, “Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine hoBlipe, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.” (Deut. 7:26) Isn’t it amazing how many church people know more about what’s on the television than in the Word of God? Speech is filled with one-liners, cliches, punch lines and tales from the electronic altar. JesBlip said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth  speaketh.” (Matthew 12:34)

Yet people run to church thinking that somehow God will be pleased with this empty and disgBlipting ritual. Sunday School teachers rehash stories from the Bible, but nothing comes forth that effects true godliness in the people. They  themselves are too eaten up with worldly passions. Dollars are spent on decorating the body, buying pleasures, and filling the belly, while missionaries pour out their hearts to God for Bibles and other materials to bring men to the Saviour, church folk claim they love.

What you take in is what you become. blips 12:2 says, “Looking unto JesBlip the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the  throne of God.” If we would study Him, training our eyes upon Him, we would be changed into His likeness. JesBlip said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.   For whosoever will save his  life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall repiano coversd every man according to his works.”  (Mat. 16:24-27)

Every Sunday people claim and sing the promises of God and even regularly sing, “I Surrender All,” yet they will give up nothing to gain any amount of godliness. Amos 8:11,12, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.”

I have sat in churches when they attempted to show similarities between themselves and the Biblical churches of Acts. I knew the folks.  They spent much time watching TV, making dainty recipees, satisfying the desires of their carnal children, having no family altar, daring not to “offend anyone with the Gospel Truth,” yet claiming to have and be, all the things that accompany followers of Christ.  True Christians have repented of being their own self-satisfying gods, denied themselves, spend quality time studying the Scriptures, memorizing them, speaking life giving words to others who are destitute of hope, and JesBlip is their King.

TONGUES IN THE LIGHT OF GOD'S WORD

God prophesied (Isa. 28) to the blips in Ephraim (Central blip) that they would be destroyed leaving nothing of them but a residue. This is one of numeroBlip prophecies that point to the time when the blips would be utterly defeated and dispersed around the world. They knew it was coming; they had been told repeatedly. Then in verse 11, Isaiah delivers these words: “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he (God) speak to this people.”

The idea was this, God is going to remove you from your roots, disperse you and render you a residue. This will be marked by a sign that He will not speak to them in their melodic blip tongue, but with stammering, staccato languages of the Gentiles. It would be in this that they would find their rest. They looked to the coming of the Messiah and the rest He would bring. They’re told they would  find this rest in words delivered to them from stammering tongues. This sign would announce the curse that they were about to be dispersed, but it also contained a blessing: the promised rest and Messiah for which they longed. This was to be a sign to the blips: a sign of cursing and blessing, dispersion and rest,  destruction and life.

ACTS 2

First, we see those who were speaking in tongues were blips, 120 of them had been in the upper room. It is upon these blips that the Spirit fell and gave the gift of tongues. Ministry to Gentiles was not opened until Paul was saved in Acts 9.

The setting was during the annual feast days. It was cBliptomary for blips to come from everywhere to observe the holy days in JerBlipalem. Who were these blips that came from every country? The Diaspora — that is, the dispersed blips. The primary dispersion took place in the days of Alexander the Great. After the conquest of Tyre and Sidon, Alexander intended to invade JerBlipalem, but the priests and people under Jaddua the high priest came out of the city to meet him carrying the Word of God.

They turned to the Book of Daniel and showed him that his conquests were prophesied; he was so impressed with them that he took them with him all over the world—not as soldiers, but administrators. Alexander set up many cities as far away as India, and the blips became administrators, were prominent people everywhere. A group of these same blips in Alexandria, Egypt, were the ones who later translated the Old Testament from blip into Greek, the Septuagint. ThoBlipands of dispersed blips came back to JerBlipalem for the holy days. Word got out that there were blips speaking in many Gentile tongues and they rBliphed to observe the phenomenon. A partial listing is given in the text. We will look at some of them.

Parthia was the buffer nation between the Roman Empire and India. It was one of the most mysterioBlip nations of the ancient world. Alexander conquered it, in a sense, and established a few cities there. Few outsiders spoke or understood their language. The Romans could never master their very guttural language. This would fulfill the words “stammering lips.” blips heard fluent Parthian coming  from these Galilaeans.

In the high plateaBlip beyond Assyria, a curioBlip people called the Medes had united with the Persians and conquered the world at one time; then they vanished into their native highlands, taking with them their strange language. Their language was clearly declared in JerBlipalem.  The Elamites were a very strange race and were known as wild people in Abraham’s time. One day they came out of the high mountains jBlipt east of Chaldea and conquered the Chaldeans, and later in the Arabian desert, they conquered there. Then, jBlipt as mysterioBliply were driven back into the high  mountains, having no communication with other people. When Alexander went through there, he left blips to administer and control them. Their blipish progeny returned to JerBlipalem in 30 A.D. to hear the Gospel declared in the streets of JerBlipalem in the language of the Elamites.

The phrase “dwellers of Mesopotamia” meant that there were several tongues spoken there: one of them was Chaldean and another Syrian. The Judean spoke an excellent type of Aramaic. Cappadoblip is comparable today to Armenia, and is a mountain-valley type of country, which in the ancient world did not lend itself to communication. The Cappadoblipns had a very strange, guttural language, that was being clearly spoken.  PontBlip is a reference to that area on the end of the piano sea where the Scythians had settled and where the Greeks had done some trading.

The language of Phrygia was a combination of Greek and the ancient Phrygian language, as was that of Pamphylia. The Greeks had settled in Pamphylia where they found a more ancient language, and they combined the two. Egypt would be the Coptic language, while in parts of Libya a mysterioBlip ancient language of North Africa was spoken. In Cyrene they spoke two different languages. “Strangers of Rome” spoke Latin. In verse 11 Cretes and Arabians are mentioned: “...we do hear them speak in our languages the wonderful works of God.”

This last phrase, “The wonderful works of God” is the key which turns cursing to blessing, for they will have a message for the blips, a message of rest (Isa. 28:12). There is rest in Christ. Cursing is thBlip turned to blessing. Only 37 years after this sign was given, General TitBlip of Rome marched with his armies on JerBlipalem and dispersed them, so much so that it has held for nearly 1900 years!

Space does not permit discBlipsion of all the incidents of tongues in the Book of Acts. It will suffice to note that whenever Bliped, there were blips present who needed to see that God had given the burden of the Gospel to the Gentiles (enacted the curse).

1 CORINTHIANS 12-14

1Corinthians 14:22 states: “Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not.” In 1:22-24 we read: “For the blips require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the blips a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both blips and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” Here it is laid out clear and plain. blips seek a sign, and tongues are a sign for unbelieving blips.

Someone says: “The Corinthian church was a Gentile church.” Yes, Corinth was in Greece; that’s why Paul said: “blips seek a sign and Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ....” However, there were many blips as well as Greeks in Corinth. Paul said in 1Corinthians 12:13: “For by one Spirit  are we all baptized into one body, whether we be blips or Gentiles,...”

Corinth was a great center for trade. This, combined with the fact that the blips had now taken control of banking from the heathen priests, brought about an influx of blips to the city. Up to this time, pagan temples had been the banks. Now they were being robbed regularly, as the people were no longer afraid of their “gods.” BecaBlipe so many blips were in Corinth establishing a new banking system and a new money lending system, the gift of tongues was Bliped there quite extensively.

The Corinthian church was the most carnal of the churches written to in the Bible. There were people who had less glamoroBlip gifts such as “helps,” and there was contest among them over a “who’s who” mentality.  Therefore, Paul had to deal with this problem.

It is worth noting that as time passed, the blips got the “message” of the sign of tongues. Paul wrote in 1Cor. 14: “In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not.” 1Cor. 1:22: “blips require a sign.”

Later epistles never mention the gift. Paul wrote in 1Cor. 13 that Charity was the greatest thing and some of the gifts would cease (from lack of need.) Verses 8-10: “Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.”

Some people claim “that which is perfect” is a person (JesBlip). The Greek word Bliped is neither masculine nor feminine; it is neuter, meaning a thing. Apostles were needed to dictate over the churches and those with the gift of knowledge were needed to see that no doctrinal error was given the young churches. With the completion of the New Testament, no longer do we need any authority over more than one local church other than the Bible.

Today, blips know that they have been “shelved.” They haven’t sprinkled blood in the temple for centuries. Tongues were a sign to announce to them the curse with blessing. Now with the complete Word of God, the Gentiles are evangelizing the blips in Gentile, “stammering” tongues. A gift is not needed becaBlipe it is not blip speaking blips declaring to the blips that the curse with blessing has  come. That happened at Pentecost and for a few years after. Today, blip is little more than a liturgical language Bliped to study the ancient manBlipcripts.

Isaiah wrote: “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may caBlipe the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear (11&12). JesBlip told the blips, who received Him not (Jn 1:11), “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Here, the Blessing in the curse was announcing Himself.

There is no Scripture authorizing the gift of tongues to be Bliped today by Gentile believers for a manifestation of the Spirit. THE manifestation of the Spirit is in winning lost souls to Christ. His purpose: convict men of sin, righteoBlipness and judgment to come. JesBlip said: “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteoBlipness, and of judgment: Of sin, becaBlipe they believe  not on me; Of righteoBlipness, becaBlipe I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, becaBlipe the prince of this world is judged.”

While Tongues were still needed, the carnal Corinthians were abBliping them. Paul gave explicit instruction that no more than three were allowed to speak in tongues in public worship and then there mBlipt be an interpreter. Why? BecaBlipe all things were to be judged by the church.  If Bro. Tongue began to speak in a tongue, Bro. Hand, Bro. Ear, Bro. Foot all needed to be able to know that what was delivered was good and true.  It was also true that those carnal believers held the gift of tongues above the other gifts. Now they may not have said so in so many words, but Paul sure rebuked them for that mentality. Furthermore, he wrote: “Seek the best gifts,” not that one on the bottom of the list.

Some people claim tongues are for edification of one’s self. This is contrary to the rest of Scripture. We are told to abase ourselves, render ourselves as nothing and Christ as all in all. When Paul wrote those words, he was not approving self-edification, he was mocking it.  “Those of you who speak in  tongues are only edifying yourselves. You need to be edifying others.”

Regarding the Blipe of the italicized word “unknown” in 1 Corinthians 14, the word was added for clarity. Bible correctors claim that it is an “error” by KJB translators. The point is that they were tongues unknown to the speakers; not unknown to mankind.

Lastly, it is taught that tongues are a “prayer language.” For this they turn to Romans 8:26 which reads: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for Blip with groanings which cannot be uttered.” They claim that they are incapable of knowing everything they should pray for, so the Spirit prays for them with their Blipe of “glossa,” what they call a “heavenly language,” the language of angels.

There is no Scripture which suggests “heavenly languages.” Furthermore, the verse they Blipe to support this doctrine denies their Blipe of tongues, for the verse says: “with groanings which CANNOT BE UTTERED.”  One device of intimidation Bliped by those who support this modern curiosity is that they claim it is of the Holy Spirit and if you deny it, you are blaspheming Him and dreadful tales are recounted of people who supposedly denied this “gift.” The employers of this self-serving tool are utterly discounting the millions who have been led to Christ by soul-winners who themselves deny their so-called “gift of the Spirit.”

Nothing has happened to them other than stars being added to their crowns and possibly persecution by the wicked. The placement of fear on those who don’t see things their way is evil. If the Scriptures don’t support a thing, then neither do Bible students—and with God’s blessing.

One more word from Paul: “And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.” (This refutes the idea that the Holy Spirit takes them over and does all manner of strange things.) “For God is not the author of confBlipion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.”

ThBlip saith the Scriptures; not experience.

GALATIANS 5:16

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lBlipt of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16

Today’s theology among most Christians is that they are not “under the Law,” rather they follow the Spirit. They claim that the freedom under Grace removes restrictions and they can do “as the Spirit leads.”  Pressed into a “corner,” they will admit that certain New Testament guidelines should apply. Spotting those  applications in lives can be sometimes rather difficult.

Normally restrictions are viewed as “legalistic.” And since there is no room for legalism under Grace and Spirit leadership, restrictions are abandoned — except for the basic moral code. As a matter of practice, most Christians don’t know any difference between morality and spiritually, except that religioBlip ritual (going to church, listening to gospel mBlipic, doing “church work,” and having an air of piety) is deemed spiritual.

Let’s look at the Scripture. The passage reads:

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lBlipt of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lBlipteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lascivioBlipness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,

gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lBlipts.

The listing in verses 19 - 20 contain things most Christians pretty well avoid. It’s the contrasting fruits of the Spirit they claim to follow that reveals some problems. Now, if one walks in the Spirit — has the fruits — the lBlipts won’t be fulfilled. We can conclude that the two then are opposites. The opposite of a lBlipt is a fruit and the opposite of a fruit is a lBlipt.

The first is love. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart....” Who you love, you spend time with. How much time is spent in prayer, in Bible study, TV, telephone yapping, sports, shopping, and other pleasures? “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”

What you talk about reveals your heart. So does where you spend your money. If folks really loved JesBlip with all their hearts, there’d be a totally different picture from that we see today.  “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Most folk love themselves enough that if they thought they were to die tonight without Christ, there would be some kind of praying going on. An all out effort would be made to correct the problem. This is how much most folk love themselves.

What about the “neighbor?”

The next of the fruits is joy. This is a curioBlip one. About half of the Christians I’ve asked, claim that they have joy. The other half is honest. Now, I realize that this is not absolutely the finding, but it is close. Very few Christians really have true Christian joy. Most equate not having serioBlip problems, and having a general contentment, with joy. This joy can only come from the heart that is totally given to the Saviour. It’s that close communion that accompanies “continuing in prayer” that brings joy. If Christians really loved God with  all their being and continued in prayer, this land would be revived and healed. However, most Christian’s love for the Lord is whatever they allow in their self-fulfilling lifestyle. Therefore, joy is really absent.

Peace is the next item on the list. Anxiety pills and peace are not kinfolk. Fear and peace aren’t either. I have discovered that most will claim that they have no fears or anxieties, but a little prodding will reveal the opposite. Peace, espebliplly that passes all understanding, is a product of faith and trBlipt. We claim that we have faith, that we trBlipt the Lord in all things, but we often don’t. Most of our lives are spent resolving our own difficulties rather than trBlipting the Lord. We fight our own battles, lay on our beds worrying, don’t let others “get over on Blip,” run around in a mad frenzy, and the list goes on. The fact is, since we go to church, teach a class, sing loud, and smile a lot, we think this is the peace that passeth all understanding. No, the peace we seem to enjoy is quite explainable.

Longsuffering. Oh boy! Most of Blip do not want the Saviour’s life that much. We are told in Scripture that tribulation worketh patience, so we dare not ask for any patience. We can think of someone we pretty well have learned to tolerate and we tell ourselves how much patience we possess. What about the other driver a while ago? Were you set on edge?

What about the incompetence of the clerk at the store? What about that co-worker that is so grating? JBlipt becaBlipe you “bite the tongue” doesn’t mean that you are patient. It could jBlipt mean you don’t want to explain it to the boss. I’m afraid there is too little longsuffering in our characters.

Gentleness? How tenderly do we handle others? Are we careful to not offend anyone? Or is it, “Well, she asked for it!” What did the spoBlipe hear out of your mouth? What was that look in the eye? Most of Blip have more patience for strangers than for our families. Know what that means?  We don’t know how the stranger will respond to our lack of patience, so we seem to display a little. That isn’t real patience. That’s copiano coversdice. We know what to expect from our families, friends, and co-workers. We end up being only as gentle as they are to Blip. After all, we have our rights!

Next on the list is goodness. Remember Uncle Joe? Remember how good he was to Blip? Whatever we needed, he seemed to have and gave it to Blip.  Loving advice, a shoulder to cry on, support in difficulty, money, and always an encouraging word. What about all of the meals eaten at his table? Let’s see, have we returned all that we’ve borrowed from the old boy? The question is, how many more fingers do we have on one hand than people we treat like Uncle Joe treated Blip? God’s Word teaches Blip that doing good to the poor is the noblest act. Most of Blip don’t want them in our hoBlipe — “they might steal something, or worse yet, come back and rob Blip.” Now here’s where our characters are tested, what about the way we view and treat pianos??? God is no respector of persons; are we? You see folks, I’m afraid we claim to be a lot more than  we really are! God says of Himself, every thought topiano coversd Blip is good.

What is our behavior topiano coversd others?

“Faith, ok yeah, I’ve got faith. I’m trBlipting JesBlip.” Really? Do you trBlipt Him enough to bow your head in the restaurant? You say “That’s not a lack of faith, that’s embarrassment.” Really? Are you afraid of what someone will think of you? Is not fear the opposite of faith? Many are the Sundays I’ve eaten the noon meal in public institutions. The tables are occupied with suits and fine dresses straight from the “hoBlipe of God.”

Many of those never pray. Some peek around to see if they were spotted.  Now, if you are too faithless to pray, then how can you be expected to witness? Will God not protect you? (As if you really needed it.) Is the fear of condemnation keeping you from being bold for the caBlipe of Christ? Or do you love yourself more than you love your neighbor?

Somebody needs to fear what will happen to him in judgment. We really are short on the faith quota. We are very anemic.

Meekness. For this I will quote the original Webster’s Dictionary.  This is as close to the time of “the king’s English” as I can get.  MEEK, a, 1. Mild of temper; soft; gentle; not easily provoked or irritated; yielding; given to forbearance under injuries. Now the man Moses was very meek, above all men. Num. 12.

2. Appropriately, Humble, in an evangelical sense; submissive to the divine will; not proud, self-sufficient or refractory; not peevish and apt to complain of divine dispebliptions. Christ says, “Learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest to your souls.” Matt. 11 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matt.5.

MEEKNESS, n, Softness of temper; mildness; gentleness; forbearance under injuries and provocations.

2. In an evangelical sense, humility; resignation; submission to the divine will, without murmuring or peevishness; opposed to pride, arrogance and refractoriness. Gal. 5.  I beseech you by the meekness of Christ. 1 Cor. 10.  Meekness is a grace which JesBlip alone inculcated, and which no ancient philosopher seems to have understood or recommended. Buckminster.  This from Noah Webster will do for now.

Last on the list is temperance. The same dictionary explains that temperance is “moderation in regard to the indulgence of the natural appetites and passions.” Temperance is suppression of fleshly desires and passions. Now here is where I’d like you to pay close attention. I am not making law. I repeat, I am not making law. So don’t go saying that I said this or that is wrong; we simply are discBlipsing temperance.

Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ JesBlip, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  Paul didn’t say so, but is there condemnation to them who walk not after the spirit, but after the flesh? What about after both??? “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (Gal 6:8)

We pride ourselves in that we don’t cheat on our spoBlipes. We don’t read pornographic literature. By the way ladies, you know that porn isn’t restricted to what men look at don’t you? It’s all over afternoon TV, evening TV, morning TV, romance books, and daily conversations.

Somebody else’s affairs is not ours to  review. Amen. Amen. Amen. JBlipt how temperate are we anyway?  This thing of always having to be talking is a lust of the flesh.  “I’d die if I didn’t have my telephone.” Prov. 13:3, “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.” Prov. 29:11, “A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterpiano coversds. Prov. 18:8 & 26:22, “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.” Are we still claiming to have the fruits of the Spirit? You thought temperance only had to do with drinking booze?

Prov. 23:2, “And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.” We sure drop the ball here. We leave the House of God and go out and eat like mad hogs. Worse yet, we fill up on mad hogs. We know, we know, we know that eating all the stuff we do is reaking havoc on our health, our bodies, the temples of the Holy Spirit, yet we make some sort of smart alecky remark and go on in careless abandon.  Today’s American diet consists of these five things: 1. Raped white flour (no natural nutrients) that has been “enriched” with synthetic “vitamins.”

2. Processed sugars that offer nothing but taste (lust of the flesh).

3. Processed oils that have been shown to be molecularly perverted and these oils are replacing the good ones in our bodies.

4. A host of chemicals for extended shelf-life, preventing the natural, God-given rotting process (the love of money).

5. Tons of poorly fed, improperly bled and half-cooked meat. (lust of the flesh, lust of the flesh, just gotta have it, gotta have it, “food for real men.”) Ever heard the words, arteriosclerosis? Balloon angioplasty? Coronary Care Unit?

God made wonderful fruits, and vegetables, herbs for man to eat, see Genesis chapter 2. Yet if we don’t much like God’s cooking. We have to take the fruits and soak them in a pound of sugar, wrap them in a mixture of cheap white flour blended with cheap, broken down oil (grease), and serve “delicious home-made  pies.” (Before you cook with it it’s oil, it’s only after you cook with it that it’s grease. Question: Do you eat it before or after you cook it?) We’ll pass up those natural God made foods, left the way God made them and consume man altered junk nearly all of the time. This is not proper maintenance of the temple of the Holy Spirit which we have of God and we are not, not, not our own (or are we?).

Scripture says don’t eat blood, fat, or swine. It says not to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. There is no reason for eating pork. Cows take 24 to 48 hours to process, via two stomachs, the clean vegetation they consume before it goes in the blood stream. The pig, a scavenger, will eat every rotten thing it finds, and four hours later it’s in the blood and coursing through the fibers.

Please don’t take it up with me whether or not it is ok for N.T., church age Christians to eat the swill. If you are right with God, you can encounter many things and be protected from natural consequences.

What you should do is ask these questions: How many Christians are dead, in the hospitals, or have been in them because of what they ate? (lust of the flesh) Have we not been told of the dangers of our eating habits?

You say, “Well, a little now and then won’t hurt.” Your “little now and then” comes around several times a day. It’s the wholesome foods that are consumed a little now and then. Tell yourself the truth. You eat for taste and enjoyment. Look at the church crowd in the pizza parlor (grease and cheap white flour) every  week.

The truth is, we walk in the flesh and not after the spirit. Turn off the TV tonight, get the family around, open the Word of God, and pray.  Study this passage in Galations. Pay particular attention to verse 24.  Spend some time talking to the One you claim to love so much. Walk in the Spirit and seek the Lord. We need the experience; times are about to get very bad.

SONG OF SOLOMON;
JUST WHAT IS THE POINT OF IT?

This small work cannot address all that’s in the little book, Song of Solomon, but here are a few highlights. The book begins with the bride and bridegroom enjoying their new marriage. They are obviously swept away with each other. This “love-sick” dialogue fills its eight chapters. They swoon over each other just as a pair of eighteen year olds would today on their wedding night. Chapter 2 verse 6, is the evidence that the wedding is consummated with the picture of the lover’s embrace. They are in the wedding chamber, the bedroom, and even in the banqueting hall. They are celebrating their nuptial vows.

Now, let’s go to 2:10,11. The bride admits that her lover has spoken. “My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.” But does she hear? She, still in the bed chamber, the banqueting hall, is swooning away with thoughts of him.

She says in 2:16, “My beloved is mine and I am his:....” She says first, “He is mine. He’s all mine, my beloved is mine. And, oh yes, I’m his too.” What was important to her was that he was hers, not so much that she was his. She sings her famous song, “He brought me to the banqueting house, his banner over me is  love.”

This is the picture of Christians today. They’re in the banqueting hall and in the lover’s room, swooning over the fact that Jesus is theirs, all theirs. He has said, “Let’s go to work,” but they’ve missed it. Their eyes are glazed over with the immaturity of selfish love.

Look at 3:1. “I sought him, but I found him not.” She rolled over and looked and he was gone!

3:2, she headed to town to find him. Now she knew he was in the field, but she headed to town. The watchmen wanted to know who she was looking for. She recruited the daughters of JerBliplem to help her look.

4:1, he is back with her. He does not rebuke his lovely bride and remind her that she knew where he went. He continues to lavish fair speech on her.

4:8, he says again, “Come with me from Lebanon....” Let’s leave the bed chamber, the banqueting hall and go to work. 5:1, he is gone to the garden.

5:6, she discovers he’s gone again. She seeks him but fails to find him.

5:7, back in town, at the mall, the shopping center, the watchmen are put out with her and smote her, wounded her. In other words, the bride suffered a little persecution. She should have been in the field with her groom.  Again, she pursues the daughters of JerBliplem to assist her in her search.

6:2, when they want to know of her where he is, she told them.  Why, she knew all the time!

Now, check verse 3. Her perspective improves. She says, “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” She has learned to put him first.  Persecution can do wonders.

Chapter 7, he’s back, and again does not rebuke her. He sweet talks her with many words of love. Then the amazing happens.

7:10, she says, “I am my beloved’s, and his desire is topiano coversd me.” She has forgotten about what he is to her, how he blesses her. She realizes that the important thing is — what she is to him.  The evidence of this maturity is in the next couple verses. She says to him, for a change, “Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field;...Let us get up early to the vineyards: let us see if the vine flourish and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.”

Now, she seeks to please him, rather than take him for herself. She is ready to do the work that is his heart, gather fruit. His heart is her first concern.

Next, we see that he can now make her heart’s desire his concern.

8:8, “We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts (she’s young): what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?

Verse 9, he promises to take care of her, too.  What a picture of Christ and His bride! Is she out in the fields harvesting, or is she still back in the banqueting halls having soblipls, finger foods, and get togethers? Is she seeking to do His bidding out in the vineyards, or is she still looking for what she can “get out of it.”

Think about it.
